FAQs — Renogy 36V/48V Rover Boost 10A MPPT Solar Charge Controller (RCC10RVRB-US)

Q: ow Do I Charge a 36V/48V Battery Bank With a 12V Solar Panel?

Answer: To charge the 36V/48V battery bank with either PWM or MPPT charge controller, the solar panel voltage should be more than 36V/48V. But in some cases, you may only have just one single 12V or 24V solar panel to charge a 36V or 48V battery bank, especially when you would like to charge batteries in places with limited space for solar, such as a golf cart. The Renogy 10A Rover Boost charge controller is a unique solution to boost the lower solar voltage to charge a high voltage battery bank.

Q: I have 2 x 100W panels, can I use both of them for this controller?

Answer: Yes, the rated solar input is 500W for 36V batteries and the solar input can not go above 25VDC. The rated solar input is 650W for 48V batteries and the solar input voltage can not go above 40VDC. Connect the panels in parallel when using this controller.

Q: In what order do I connect my system, and what operations do I have to do?

Answer: The off-grid solar system includes the solar panels, charge controller, batteries, inverter, Bluetooth module, and wirings. First, the battery should be hooked up to the charge controller with tray cables. Second, then connect your solar panel to your charge controller with adaptor kits. After the wiring connections, you will need to set your battery type using the SET button, and then the controller can take care of the rest. The LED Indicators and SET buttons are found on the OUTPUT side of the Rover Boost.

Q: What type of protection does the Rover Boost Charge Controller have?

Answer: Battery Protection: Battery Over Discharge protection , Battery Over Voltage protection, Battery Reverse Polarity protection Load Protection: Load Overload protection, Load Short Circuit protection, Controller Overheating protection PV Protection: PV Over Current Protection , PV Short Circuit protection , PV Reverse Polarity protection, Battery overheating protection

Q: How many watts can Renogy Rover Boost 10 amp charge controller handle?

Answer: The Rover Boost charge controller can work with standard off-grid 12/24V solar panels with PV Input Power: 500W/36V; 650W/48V, and Solar Input Voltage Range (VOC) 15 ~ 25VDC / 36V, 15 ~ 40VDC / 48V.

Q: What does 10A on MPPT charge controller mean?

Answer: 10A represents the max amount of amps the controller can output going INTO THE BATTERIES.

Q: What are the recommended wiring gauge and ring terminal sizes?

Answer: The Rover Boost accepts ring terminals or lugs. Due to the terminal housing, ring terminals must comply with the instructions manuals.
